Etisalat has lined up workshops, lectures, educational activities, and competitions alongside the launch of its innovative products to instill a spirit of creativity and research to mark the UAE Innovation Month.

Etisalat believes that 5G technologies will be a major enabler for the Fourth Industrial Revolution and will create new business opportunities for Etisalat partners in the UAE, including Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), autonomous cars, smart health and education, among others.

Etisalat is always looking for ways to spark innovation and inspire local talent in line with the vision of our nation's leadership. Etisalat teamed up with Ericsson and Intel to launch a competition dubbed "Driving the Future of 5G Innovation". Engineering students from prominent universities in UAE who attended the workshops were encouraged to come up with innovative ideas and find unique solutions using 5G technology.

The government's push for innovation makes UAE an incredible destination for everything digital. Innovation has always been at the core of Etisalat's business operations. In view of the UAE's national innovation strategy, Etisalat is committed to paving the way for smarter digital solutions and applications that mobilize people, businesses, and the government sector for a better tomorrow. This is in line with Etisalat's corporate strategy that focuses on 'Driving the digital future to empower the society' across its customers and enabling them with solutions on a digital journey.

The 'Hello Business Hub' at One JLT in Dubai was unveiled last month, showcasing Etisalat's best-in-value offerings all under one roof to help small and medium businesses (SMBs) to fully realize the potential of the digital economy.

Etisalat opened its ultramodern Open Innovation Center in Dubai on December 20, a first of its kind in the region showcasing digital innovation, its capabilities, and how digitalization can come to life for Etisalat customers and partners. As part of the UAE Innovation Month, a senior Dubai Police officer visited the innovation center. Other visitors were high-profile Etisalat clients from the health and education, transport, aviation, retail, and logistics sectors, among others.

To help spread a culture of innovation during the month, Etisalat has launched the Mobile Cashier service for SMBs and organized innovative seminars and workshops for employees at its offices in UAE. The seminars exposed the participants to basic tools and frameworks to enhance business performance especially with telecom environments today in a continuous stage of change, innovation and have the ability to adapt creatively the key to organizational success. The innovative workshops highlighted a range of creative thinking techniques that managers can use to generate ideas and enhance innovation.

With 5G in the limelight, workshops were held to showcase '5G network as a Social enabler' focusing on network transformation market insight and future with IoT.

Etisalat Digital also launched its latest challenges as part of its partnership with Dubai Future Accelerators. The first challenge is to reduce 50 percent calls to Etisalat customer care over the next one year using artificial intelligence, analytics, insights and machine learning. For the second challenge, startups should be able to transform the experience of visitors of city attractions by leveraging extended reality and artificial intelligence at every stage of the visitor journey, aiming at 90 percent adoption by the targeted audience by 2021.

Senior Etisalat management shared their insights on innovation and Etisalat's role in contributing to enabling a digital ecosystem at the Technical and Vocational Education and Training innovation forum, and participated in panel discussions on nuclear energy at the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation headquarters at Masdar City.

Etisalat has an array of unique educational toys on display at its retail shop at Dubai mall that encourages innovation and creativity. Among them is the Osmo Brilliant Kit which includes four smart game - Tangram, Numbers, Masterpiece and Newton - that transform an Ipad into a hands-on learning tool. Osmo technology sees how the kids move tangible pieces in front of the screen - in the real world - and then responds with instant on-screen feedback and fun.

Etisalat was the main sponsor of the Arab Innovation Expo and Summit held annually in February during UAE Innovation Month. The Expo unveiled breakthrough ideas from worldwide innovation in smart government, transportation, healthcare, energy and utilities, technology and financial services. The Summit featured an international line-up of thinkers, speakers, and experts who will share their wisdom, unconventional ideas and compelling case studies.

All key events, activities and initiatives during the UAE Innovation Month are being actively promoted and shared on Etisalat's social media platforms.

The UAE Innovation Month, previously called UAE Innovation Week, is the annual celebration of innovation culture. The initiative is a key pillar in the UAE government's implementation of the national innovation strategy launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to develop government work based on innovative approaches.
