OmanSat Technologies has been granted a Class I license under Royal Decree No. 40/2025 to establish and operate a national satellite communications system. This initiative aims to enhance Oman’s telecommunications infrastructure, particularly by expanding broadband internet access and providing satellite connectivity services, especially in rural and underserved areas.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) anticipates that this move will foster greater market competitiveness and encourage investment in innovative technologies.
OmanSat’s role will be pivotal in delivering fixed public telecommunications services across the Sultanate.
The newly granted telecom license represents a significant advancement in strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure. It enables the independent operation of satellite-based communication services, reducing reliance on external providers and reinforcing national data sovereignty.
