Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) launched its new data center dubbed MORO in Dubai - a world-class data hub that provides state-of-the-art data center solutions and innovative business services.

During the opening ceremony, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum visited DEWA’s Data Hub Integrated Solutions (MORO). During his visit, Sheikh Hamdan toured MORO’s departments. HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority briefed His Highness on MORO’s integrated solutions that provide a new generation of services including digital transformation, cloud computing and data services.

The Dubai Crown Prince said: “Innovation is key for a bright future, and it is a key pillar of Dubai Government’s future plans and efforts to become a global leader across sectors, secure sustainable resources, develop services and meet expectations.”

Sheikh Hamdan concluded: “I am proud to visit this innovation hub that promotes Emirati talent and works to advance our commitment to provide world class services. This center supports the government’s smart transformation efforts based on enhancing quality, excellence and innovation”.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed affirmed that the UAE has gained a global reputation as a hub for innovation and creativity. He said this approach is inspired by the vision of Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum that aims to achieve high levels of excellence in government services.

Sheikh Hamdan asserted that, due to these efforts, Dubai has become one of the smartest and happiest cities in the world. He indicated that Dubai’s success springs from its ability to keep pace with global changes, anticipate the future and best utilize innovative solutions.

Marwan Bin Haidar, Executive Vice President - Innovation & the Future of DEWA and Vice Chairman of MORO said, “MORO is beyond a data center, it’s a digital data hub that aims to transform any entity or organization to become digital. MORO will enable the right infrastructure to all digital services.”

Bin Haidar explained that the newly launched data hub was designed to be one of the top tiers in data center. “We have the right partners and several levels of security. We are making sure that it is bulletproof with enough resources and technology. We have the most secure data hub in the world.”

DEWA aims to attract customers from all over the world, not only from the GCC region, and all sectors can benefit from MORO’s services because, according to Bin Haidar, “In digital there are no geographical boundaries. We have the right combination to give them everything they need in one place.”

Currently, MORO offers its services to over 22 international and local companies. MORO’s partners include Dell EMC, Virtustream, SAP, Microsoft, General Electric, VMware, Ernst & Young, CISCO and others.
