The Broadband Commission has released the first part of the State of Broadband 2024 report at its virtual Spring Meeting, which brought together government leaders and heads of international organizations alongside representatives of private sector companies, civil society and academia to discuss the power of artificial intelligence (AI) in connecting the 2.6 billion people still disconnected from the internet.

Since the introduction of the internet, algorithms have long been a part of our daily lives. Algorithms permeate various aspects of our everyday activities, spanning from internet searches, entertainment platforms, and social media to self-driving cars, visual recognition systems, translation tools, and smart assistants/speakers. These algorithms play a pivotal role in numerous economic sectors, shaping countless decisions made by humans on a daily basis.

“5G is an innovation platform for driving digital transformations of businesses and society,” said Fredrik Jejdling, Executive Vice President and Head of Business Area Networks, Ericsson. With this in mind, the deployment of 5G is still ongoing, and is far from complete.
