STC announced that a successful call has been accomplished using a 5G smartphone for the first time in MENA region and among the first globally, in cooperation with its strategic partners. This launching is the initial phase for operating the service once 5G handsets are available in the global markets.

BT announced the appointment of Joris van Oers to lead a key industry vertical in its Global Services division. Joris re-joins BT after spending three years as executive vice president of the business division at KPN, the Dutch telecoms company. Before that, he was country manager for BT in the Benelux region.

As a pioneer in 5G technology Chinese smartphone vendor OPPO has connected with regional telecom service providers, regulators, and global ICT solution providers to accelerate the commercialization of 5G enabled smartphones at the 5G MENA 2019 summit in Dubai.

VP of Cyber Security at STC Solutions, Fahad Aljutaily, declared that increase in attacks against internet of things around the world reached 600% in 2017. China topped the list as an attack location by 21%, followed by the USA by 11% and Brazil by 6%.
