US multi-national network infrastructure provider CommScope is joining the fixed wireless access market with the introduction of a new integrated antenna solution based on xRAN open interface specifications. The open interface allows wireless operators to mix and match radio access network (RAN) hardware from multiple vendors to more flexibly address varying requirements.
Huawei flaunts strong financial results for 2017
Huawei released its audited financial results for 2017, reporting solid business growth. The company's total annual revenue was CNY603.6 billion (US$92.5 billion based on year-end exchange rates), an increase of 15.7 percent over 2016. Net profits were CNY47.5 billion (US$7.3 billion), an increase of 28.1 percent year-on-year.

Ericsson targets $1.2bn cost reduction by mid-2018
Swedish telecom equipment vendor Ericsson plans to reduce costs by at least SEK 10 billion (around $1.2 billion) by mid-2018 to compensate sluggish profits. Ericsson revealed at its annual general meeting (AGM) that for the full year 2017 net sales decreased by 10 percent to SEK 201 billion, and operating income was down 38.1 percent.

Huawei launches P20 and P20 Pro smartphones
At an exclusive launch event held on March 27 in Paris, Huawei Consumer Business Group unveiled the HUAWEI P20 and HUAWEI P20 Pro. The HUAWEI P20 Pro features the world's first Leica triple camera, and both devices include unprecedented AI advances, the company said in a statement.
