Meta, formerly known as Facebook, is set to launch a web version of Threads, its social media platform aimed at challenging X, formerly Twitter. Threads initially experienced rapid growth after its launch in July but quickly lost users due to limited functionality. Meta's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, announced the web version's rollout, allowing users to post threads, view feeds and interact with other users.
However, certain features, like profile editing and direct messenger integration with Instagram, will not be available initially. Meta plans to enhance web functionality in the coming weeks to align it with the mobile app. Threads, which briefly amassed over 100 million users, aims to recover this user base with these advancements.
Experts suggest that adding a search function and embracing hashtags, along with the ongoing controversies surrounding X, could help Threads regain traction. Time is of the essence for the platform's success.
