Mounir Ladki, president and CTO, MYCOM OSI, a Gold Sponsor for the 17th Telecom Review Leaders’ Summit, explicates the dynamic strategies that go behind the successful telco to techo-enablement of efficient, effective operations.

Telcos have the opportunity to harness data to build new revenue streams by clearly analyzing their customers' behaviors and needs. Please tell us about MYCOM OSI's offerings for telcos that are aligned to achieving this goal.

Beyond customer behavior data, the telecom industry recognizes the massive untapped opportunity for monetization of network and service data. STL Partners forecasts the mobile network APIs revenue opportunity for Communications Service Providers (CSPs) to reach over $20 billion by 2028, half of which relates to Network Performance and Quality of Service (QoS) data. GSMA’s Open Gateway API and the CAMARA alliance are key industry initiatives to tap into this new opportunity.

MYCOM OSI’s world-leading Service Assurance data platform helps CSPs harness this data and generate new revenue streams in two ways:

First, we collect billions of disparate data points from across the network and turn them into curated and smart data sets, exposed via open APIs that CSPs can monetize with third parties. This includes key information such as traffic, congestion, capacity, location, performance and QoS.

Second, this data is injected into our EAA Service Assurance application suite to provide real-time visibility on customer QoS and automatically detect and resolve issues before they impact the service. This enables CSPs to monetize QoS and SLAs, especially with their enterprise customers. This is the key business model for future 5G slicing and Private 5G networks.

MYCOM OSI has established a name for itself for innovations in Operational Support Systems in the industry. What have been the strategies behind achieving such a commendable feat?

At MYCOM OSI, we create conditions for innovation. We view our relationship with customers as a long-term partnership rather than a supplier relationship. This enables an environment for co-creation and co-innovation.

We offer our developers and engineers an internal, safe environment where they can experiment, innovate, fail and learn. Our R&D is an agile organization that runs short sprints coupled with a lean go-to-market model. To accelerate focused outcomes, we pair domain experts with technology experts for a quick turnaround of outcome-oriented solutions.

At the heart of our innovation and product roadmap, we have a clear and consistent vision that promotes Cloud, Automation and AI as key innovation areas. By investing in new technology and building an environment of innovation, we help our customers stay ahead and meet their strategic objectives.

Please tell us a bit more about MYCOM OSI's Service Assurance Applications and Solutions powered by AI and Automation.

Automation and AI go hand in hand in enabling autonomous closed-loop operations for a network. This is why we have focused on Automation and AI as key capabilities for our Service Assurance portfolio.

Our Automation Solutions provide automated process workflows driven by out-of-the-box algorithms and AIOps, so that mobile, broadband and enterprise services can be efficiently delivered, reducing operational complexity and time-to-market. Some of our customers have reduced MTTx (Mean Time to Identify or Repair) at NOC (Network Operations Center) and SOC (Service Operations Center) by up to 80% and have automated 100% of their ticket creation process, resulting in reduced ticket volumes.

With our recently launched AInsights application, we have added a new dimension of predictive AI-based insights to all Service Assurance layers. This supports the CSPs in discovering issues much before they impact customers through features such as network performance forecasting, anomaly detection and automatic remediation.

How is MYCOM OSI helping the enterprise sector with reliable and energy-efficient network operations given the global push for clean and sustainable business operations?

In 2021, GSMA estimated that energy consumption accounted for 15 to 40% of Telco’s operating expenditures, which has certainly risen by now. That is why we are committed to helping CSPs reduce their energy consumption.

First, we promote the use of the public cloud through our SaaS offering. According to Bain, this can achieve 40% savings.

In addition, the use of advanced analytics can optimize the behavior of network and data center equipment and reduce their energy consumption. For this, we have partnered with Intel to provide a solution for monitoring and optimizing Telco Cloud energy consumption that can achieve 30%+ energy savings without compromising network performance or service levels. We are excited about the potential of this solution to drive cleaner and more sustainable Telco and IT operations.
