Oman’s National Centre for Statistics and Information unveiled that total fixed telephone lines rose by 5.7% to 592,196 by the end of December 2019, from 560,326 subscribers until end of December 2018. Analogue fixed telephone declined by 0.8% to 321,501 during the period under review.
The latest data provided by the NCSI report stated that the number of subscriptions (IP) lines surged by 18.4% to 213,320 subscribers until end of December 2019. Total lines of the integrated services digital network increased by 3.1% and stood at 49.011 lines, while the wireless fixed subscriptions declined by 5.4% to reach 1563 lines. The total number of mobile subscribers fell by 0.9% to 6.383 million until the end of December 2019, compared to December 2018. Out of this, post-paid mobile connections dropped by 2.2% to 5,601,800.
Total number of the fixed internet subscribers increased by 12% to 475,097 by the end of December 2019. Fixed broadband internet connections, which have more than 256 Kbit/s speed, including FTTH, DSL, internet lease lines, satellite and LTE service stood at 473,70 subscribers, while internet subscriptions, which have less than 256 Kbit/s speed, including mobile communication and internet leased lines stood by 2077 subscribers.
