With 2021 Mobile World Congress being heavily impacted by the pandemic, 2022 sees us again going to Barcelona to meet as an industry that is focused on bringing new capabilities, devices and opportunities to business and end users across the world. With the MEA region as a key beneficiary of innovation and advancements in technology, I am looking forward to meeting many of AWS customers and partners from the telecoms industry at the show.
2022 clearly marks the year that is set to deliver on 5G and the edge with a lot of those new capabilities powered by cloud computing. AWS has worked with many operators across the globe to enhance what 5G can provide. From the core to the edge; cloud is transforming mobile networks and the industry with it. MWC will provide you with the opportunity to experience this first hand – both at a technology, but also at a commercial level.
AWS, together with its customers and partners from the telco industry, has created a program to help you gain new insights, inspiration and experience. I invite you to visit the keynotes and panels that we will speak at. The topics range from “Delivering a New World” where you can hear directly from the AWS CEO, Adam Selipsky, to “Is Cloud Key for MNO Digital Transformation?” with a panel moderated by Adolfo Hernandez, Global VP Telco, with our customers Deutsche Telekom, Dish, Telenor and Vodafone.
Our Chief Technologist Ishwar Parulkar will ask the question “Is it time to embrace collaboration with the cloud?” while my colleague Umer Chaudhary will focus on the “Evolution & Reach of 5G gaming” and my colleague Wendy Bauer will talk about “The data opportunity: Making Mobility Smart” from an automotive perspective. I recommend that you book these and other GSMA main stage sessions to not miss out on topics that are vital for the Middle East and Africa region.
In addition to that, AWS will be hosting more than 20 customers presentation sessions in our AWS main theatre in the exhibition village. As you come into MWC in the Fira, you cannot miss us, we are located directly at the South Entrance. Here you can hear from companies such as Safaricom, Hutchinson, Swisscom, Nokia, WirelessCar, and many others. You will also hear from our partners who will exhibit and present at the partner theatre with another 20 presentation sessions from 28th February to 2nd March. Amdocs, Ericsson, Mavenir and Tech Mahindra are among the partners waiting for your visit and I encourage you to explore the full list.
To enable you to dive deep into the topics you consider most relevant to your company, we created a number of exciting demonstrations. They range from cloud capabilities enabling core telco network functions, such as mobile cores, telco data lakes, 5G network automation and private mobile networks to edge technology applications such as radio access networks, video, media streaming and immersive experiences, to monetization, digital brands and commerce. For Edge use cases specifically, we created an edge demo experience that I can thoroughly recommend to you.
