In line with the upcoming GITEX GLOBAL 2022 on October 10-14, 2022, a press conference was held at the Bulgari Yacht Club in the presence of public and private sector stakeholders who serve as leaders in the accelerating digital economy across diverse tech businesses.
Delivering the welcome speech, HE Omar Al Olama, minister of state for AI, digital economy & remote work applications, said: “This year, my office has partnered with GITEX to ensure that we’re not just showcasing technology, but actually inventing and developing technology.”
Upholding its reputation as the biggest global tech event in the world, GITEX GLOBAL returns with its largest-ever edition, featuring 5,000 companies in 26 halls, located within Dubai World Trade Center’s two million sq. ft. of exhibition space.
Also present to address the media, Hatem Dowidar, group CEO, e& highlighted the company’s transformation “moving beyond just providing that connectivity, into also building, acquiring and partnering in a way that we can deliver new technologies and new services in both the consumer and enterprise spaces.” GITEX GLOBAL 2022 will be the first major exhibition for e& since the launch of its new brand identity.
When Telecom Review asked the panelists the question of how will public and private sectors continue empowering ICT in the vision of accelerating the digital economy, Naim Yazbeck, general manager, Microsoft UAE, answered that upskilling is one of the focal points done by both sectors to raise awareness and understand the “best use of technologies.”
HE Tariq Al Janahi, acting CEO, Digital Dubai Authority, agreed with Yazbeck’s point of view and later explained how, in this year’s GITEX, their entity will display the future plans for a holistic city-wide digital ecosystem, ensuring that Dubai becomes a global benchmark for building digital economies.
