In a landmark development for Iraq's digital evolution, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani has officially inaugurated the National Data Center at the General Secretariat of the Cabinet.
During the event, Prime Minister Al-Sudani closely examined results from the first phase of the center's development. This phase includes the integration of smart screens and models illustrating the implementation stages of the National Cloud Facility. Notably, it encompasses significant strides in digital transformation, including the rollout of services such as the "Health Issuance" program.
While on-site, Prime Minister Al-Sudani also witnessed the operations of the unified electronic service window, known as the "Ur E-Portal," which currently offers an impressive 299 services. He observed the intricacies of the digital transformation roadmap and explored the International Training Center's functions. Of particular interest were a practical simulation of legal transactions at the Notary Circles and the electronic system for tracking citizen communications via advisory services. Additionally, he observed the real-time utilization of the electronic vehicle inspection platform, highlighting one of the portal's pivotal services.
Prime Minister Al-Sudani underscored the importance of media awareness in disseminating information about these services for public education. He emphasized that this initiative aligns with the government's commitment to combat financial and administrative corruption, a pressing challenge for all developmental, reconstruction and service projects.
During a meeting with international experts supporting the initiative, Prime Minister Al-Sudani engaged with representatives from esteemed organizations such as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the World Bank, the UK Government Digital Service (GDS), the World Food Programme (WFP), the International Cooperation Agency, the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and IMMAP. He received a comprehensive presentation detailing Iraq's digital transformation roadmap.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Al-Sudani presided over a meeting of the advisory team for the Electronic Government Committee. During this session, he emphasized the pivotal role of data aggregation in streamlining citizen services, addressing poverty-related issues, and efficiently managing the food ration card program while minimizing processing time.
Prime Minister Al-Sudani also highlighted that electronic fund transactions hold the potential to tackle exchange rate challenges, bridge disparities, and resolve various other issues in the best interest of citizens. He reaffirmed the government's unwavering commitment to meeting all financial requirements and enacting supportive decisions and measures to facilitate a seamless digital transition.
