In line with the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) has launched its new AI company, AI71. The entity builds on the Technology Innovation Institute’s (TII) Falcon generative AI models and will focus on multi-domain specializations while offering unprecedented AI data control options for companies and countries looking to self-host for greater privacy.
The new AI powerhouse was launched by H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, in the presence of several ministers and representatives of leading multinational technology companies.
Leveraging AI Enhancements
ATRC's Technology Innovation Institute created the Falcon 7B, 40B, and 180B large language models (LLMs), and now ATRC's VentureOne subsidiary will introduce AI71 across various sectors, beginning with healthcare, education, and law. AI71, drawing from extensive anonymized data in these fields, which represents a diverse demographic, provides a significant advantage in comparison to other AI markets. This is particularly notable in the UAE, where the e-infrastructure is highly digitized and comparatively mature.
At a time where innovation often outpaces regulatory frameworks, the UAE government's swift decision-making structure uniquely positions the new company to leverage its responsible AI advancements globally, bypassing the lengthy processes often associated with such developments.
