Saudi Arabia has secured the top global ranking for empowering women in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), according to Stanford University’s AI Index Report 2025.

This milestone highlights the Kingdom’s commitment to promoting gender equality and advancing its technology as part of its Saudi Vision 2030 strategy.

The report underscores Saudi Arabia’s leadership in women’s participation in AI advancement, boasting the highest female-to-male ratio in the industry worldwide. This achievement is attributed to the Kingdom’s national policies and initiatives, which aim to include women in the information, communications, and technology (ICT) landscape.

Saudi Arabia has implemented advanced training programs and initiatives, such as the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority’s (SDAIA) ‘Elevate’ program, developed in collaboration with Google Cloud, which aims to train over 25,000 women in technology and AI.

Advancing Saudi Arabia’s AI Industry

Beyond women's empowerment, Saudi Arabia has demonstrated remarkable progress across multiple AI standards. The country ranked third globally in AI job growth for 2024, reflecting the technology’s expanding employment opportunities.

The Kingdom achieved fourth place in AI model development, alongside nations that have implemented advanced AI innovations, including the United States, China, France, Canada, and South Korea.

It also placed eighth worldwide in attracting AI talent, solidifying its position as a global hub for innovation and research.

Spearheading national efforts to enhance AI capabilities, the SDAIA focuses on building infrastructure, advancing policy frameworks, and driving investment to boost AI adoption across various industries. The Saudi Vision 2030 remains central to the SDAIA’s initiatives, aiming to position the Kingdom as a global leader in data and AI development.
