The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Cabinet has approved the establishment of a Regulatory Intelligence Office and the artificial intelligence (AI)-powered integrated regulatory intelligence ecosystem to modernize the country’s legislative process.
This initiative is poised to accelerate legal reforms and enhance legislative precision by leveraging AI and big data analytics to monitor the real-time impact of legislation on the economy and society, enabling lawmakers to propose amendments and actionable recommendations.
The AI ecosystem will develop a centralized AI-based map, which will incorporate the national legislation into a single, intelligent platform. This unification is expected to reduce the time required for research, drafting, evaluation, and enactment of laws by up to 70%, significantly accelerating the legislative process.
The new Regulatory Intelligence Office will connect with global policy research centers, enabling UAE lawmakers to align their legal framework with international standards and adopt best practices.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, highlighted the significance of the initiative on the social media platform, X, stating, “This new legislative system, powered by AI, will change how we create laws, making the process faster and more precise.”
Describing the strategic move as a “paradigm shift”, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the significance of integrating AI to make the legislative process faster, more accurate, and more aligned with the nation’s development goals.
The move is part of the UAE’s broader strategy to apply AI across government services, economic planning, and infrastructure, with the judiciary and specialized courts already adopting advanced AI applications.
