The Executive Council of Dubai chaired by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, has approved the development of the Dubai Strategic Plan 2030 -- a roadmap for Dubai’s innovation-driven growth in the current decade.

“Huawei has been operating in the Middle East region for over 20 years and we are very satisfied with our performance there,” said Ken Hu, rotating chairman, Huawei at the Huawei 2020 Annual Report press conference which took place online.

Huawei released its 2020 Annual Report explaining that despite a slowed growth in the past year, the company's business performance was largely in line with forecast. Huawei's sales revenue in 2020 rounded off at CNY891.4 billion, up 3.8% year-on-year, and its net profit reached CNY64.6 billion, up 3.2% year-on-year.

Commending Saudi Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC)’s decision to open the complete 5925-7125 MHz band (6 GHz band) for unlicensed access, Martha Suarez, President of Dynamic Spectrum Alliance (DSA) said that the move will foster innovation and provide last-generation connectivity and digital empowerment in the Kingdom.

The UAE Cybersecurity Council held its third meeting in 2021 at the headquarters of the Armed Forces Officers Club in Abu Dhabi, chaired by Dr. Mohamed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, head of cybersecurity at the UAE Government.

According to the Global Gender Gap Report 2021 of the World Economic Forum (WEF), data shows a significant improvement in the performance of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) toward successfully bridging the gender gap and achieving gender parity within tech roles.

The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) has issued its ‘3-year Outlook for Commercial and Innovative Use of the Spectrum in Saudi Arabia’ where it plans to improve access to more than 23 GHz of spectrum. In line with this, the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) commends CITC designating the entire 6 GHz band for license-exempt use.
