Etisalat Group today announced its consolidated financial results for H1 ending 30th June 2019.

Etisalat’s subscriber base has increased by 2% year on year, and reached 143 million subscribers in the first half of 2019. The company’s revenues for H1 2019 reached AED 25.9 billion while consolidated Net Profit amounted to AED 4.4 billion which represented a 3.1% increase year on year. Also, their consolidated EBITDA amounted to AED 13.3 billion which represented a 2% increase since last year and an EBITDA margin of 52%. Earnings per share (EPS) amounted to AED 0.51 in the first half of 2019; a 3% increase from the same period last year.

Also, Etisalat became the first Telco in the MENA region to provide 5G network. It provided the network inside Abu Dhabi’s new international airport, which also made it the first airport in the region with 5G coverage. They also collaborated with Noor Bank and launched e-Wallet, their new mobile digital payment service.

Another key development for the company was its collaboration with Microsoft as its strategic partner in order to provide government entities, large enterprises, and small and media enterprises with state of the art digital transformative solutions. Etisalat also set up its innovation program, ‘Future Now’ and launched three challenges covering the topics of multi-cloud, insurance on demand and industrial IoT, in addition to selecting with 5 startups for the next stage.

Moreover, the Telco also unveiled its Robotic Center of Excellence to deliver automated solutions for greater customer satisfaction ad launched a smartphone self-service vending machine which is the first of its kind in the UAE. They also opened the ‘Smile UAE’ app to all UAE residents and visitors and the UAE Internal Auditors Association awarded them with the private sector’s ‘Leading Practice in Internal Audit’.

In terms of its international achievements, Etisalat was also awarded by Brand Finance, ‘The Most Valuable Telecoms Brand’ award (in the MENA region).

Also, in terms of broadband, the UAE was ranked as a global leader in Fiber to the Home (FTTH) penetration for a third year in a row, according to the leading industry body FFTH Council.
