du, from Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC), finalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) to officially commence a new project that supports the business startup community. The MoU was signed by Fahad Al Hassawi, CEO, EITC, and Abdulla Hasan, CEO of Support Services sector in DED.
In partnership with the DED ‘Invest in Dubai’ platform, the ‘Start @ du’ initiative will guide and assist startups on their respective entrepreneurial journeys. Valuable fixed and mobile telecom solutions will enable business minds to immediately launch their companies and pursue ideas through a comprehensive digital portal, helping to drive successful outcomes.
Fahad Al Hassawi said, “Ever since our establishment, du has abided by several imperative principles that have guided us in supporting societal progression and the business sector. Today, our enduring pledge to deliver ICT for all and proudly contribute to the transformation of our community is being demonstrated once more. Through the infrastructure, services, and guidance we provide, the business community can take great enthusiasm knowing telco platforms are immediately there for them to drive growth and realize business objectives. This move promises to boost both economic development and the Emirate’s status as an investment hub.”
As a special value proposition, customers that have acquired their business license and visa from DED will be presented with telco services and several non-telco digital enablers through startup packs, which can include domain registration and business enabling tools. For the mobile startup packs, high network speeds and national minutes are among the benefits. With the modern customer keen to move away from paperwork and lengthy activation processes, du has also committed to fully integrating and seamlessly activating its services with the Invest in Dubai platform.
“We are breaking new frontiers in our level of service excellence and contributing to the enhanced competitiveness of our economy. Dubai Economy is committed to following the directives of our leadership in leveraging the latest technology tools innovatively and creatively to provide advanced services that add to the happiness of our customers,” said Abdulla Hasan.
He continued, “We are pleased to partner with du as the telecommunications sector is a fundamental fabric of modern society and, as businesses begin their journeys in Dubai, those involved can pursue their objectives with the infrastructure and solutions that du provides.”
The UAE prides itself on fostering entrepreneurship and business sector progression, an aspiration certain to be elevated due to the profile of Expo 2020 Dubai and the widespread interest it attracts throughout its duration. As such, this latest initiative will prove invaluable for a host of new businesses moving forward. Additionally, du has also confirmed the provision of telco benefits, including free communication, for all government entities participating in the strategic project that supports Invest in Dubai.
