Fahad Al Hassawi, CEO at du, Emirates Integrated Telecommunication Company (EITC), welcomed 25 new Emirati employees, including 12 recent graduates, as the digital-first telco continues to invest in young talent to support its future growth. With its Emiratization rate currently at 40.3%, du started the recruitment process in the last quarter of 2022 as part of its journey to becoming the employer of choice for emerging UAE national talent.
du is at the forefront of nurturing Emirati talent by assisting in their development and growth, in line with its commitment to contributing to the UAE's goal for a knowledge-based economy. In parallel to extensive Emiratization initiatives that tap into a pool of upcoming talent, du's learning and development team prioritizes training UAE citizens and enhancing their skills via the Graduate Program, for example.
Commenting on the development, Hassawi noted, “The Company is glad to welcome our most recent new hires and recent graduates. This is a vital talent pool for du that we wish to cultivate and encourage as they launch their careers. du ensures that the joining graduates have the technical and soft skills necessary to match the organization's and the UAE economy's expectations, as they will become a part of a work environment that is both challenging and rewarding.”
With regards to Emiratization, du has become one of the most successful firms in the industry with its multiple initiatives, trainings and professional development programs. The company has taken initiatives to cultivate local talent through industry partnerships.
du has recently announced a new collaboration with Nokia to strengthen employee skill sets and accelerate talent development initiatives in the UAE. As part of the partnership, Nokia will conduct a training and development program for du workers that focuses on technology competency and knowledge transfer. The program will ensure that all du workers are equipped with the technical knowledge and skills necessary to respond to the increasingly complex challenges facing the digital, technology and telecommunications industries.
In addition, du has enrolled its highly qualified Emirati employees in exceptional executive programs. Its "Seed of the Future" program, recently launched in conjunction with Huawei, allows new Emirati graduates the opportunity to visit du offices and gain exposure to and knowledge of the organization's technological departments.
