Ericsson showcased its latest solutions in the Internet of Things (IoT) space during IoTX, the biggest IoT event in the Middle East powered by GITEX.
During the event, Ericsson demonstrated its capabilities across a variety of sectors including Smart Cities, Public Safety, Smart Metering, Transportation, among others, demontsrating the role of connected devices to address global challenges such as climate change and fast urbanization.
"Our latest version of the Mobility Report predicts 15 billion Internet of Things (IoT) connections worldwide by 2021. We believe that the IoT is the main dynamic behind Ericsson's vision of 50 billion connected devices, and a fundamental transformation agent in the Networked Society. Through our participation and sponsorship of the event, we aim to discuss with our partners and key industry players how to prepare for the success of the Internet of Things in this region, while we showcase our cutting edge technology and software of the future be it in the field of connected devices or connected smart cities," said Rafiah Ibrahim, head of Ericsson Region Middle East and Africa.
Ericsson showcased Smart Sustainable Cities demonstrations, where four areas of a smart city is demonstarted: a Competitive City, Safe City, Resilient City and Efficient City, determining how cities are permitted to meet the many challenges of urbanization and accomplish their potential.
