Nokia successfully pilots world’s first 4G and 5G FWA network slicing
Nokia announced that it has successfully piloted 4G and 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) network slicing with Saudi Arabian telecommunications services provider, Mobily on their live commercial network – the first sliced FWA deployment in the world. The ongoing pilot, which took place in the capital city of Riyadh, occurred in a multi-vendor environment and included sliced access, transport and core networks with management and assurance capabilities. The solution will allow Mobily to offer new FWA services to priority consumer and enterprise customers. It also enables slicing per application including voice, data, online gaming or home office applications.
Qualcomm opens new R&D Centre in France to spur 5G innovation
Qualcomm Communications SARL, a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated on Friday announced its plan to open a new 5G research and development (R&D) centre in France to work on the future evolution of 5G and beyond. The announcement comes after a meeting between Qualcomm Incorporated’s president and CEO-elect, Cristiano Amon, and Agnès Pannier-Runacher, minister delegate for industry in the French Government. The new internal R&D facility joins Qualcomm Incorporated’s extensive R&D network and will play a key role in Qualcomm employees driving the de velopment of 5G locally, regionally and globally.
