Leading telecommunications company, Omantel, has launched its second-largest data center in Salalah, exhibiting the potential to significantly boost Oman’s digital infrastructure.

Situated in the Dhofar region, this new facility is equipped with cutting-edge technologies designed to meet the growing demand for data services across the country.

The newly unveiled data center will interconnect with more than 10 submarine cables linking Salalah to Asia and Europe, alongside three relay centers to deliver enhanced network support services in Salalah and the southern part of Oman. This strategic move highlights Salalah as an emerging hub for business and technology.

Notably, the new data center will host major technology giants, such as Equinix, Facebook, and Google, emphasizing Salalah’s status in the region’s digital landscape.

This advancement also adds to the country’s growing number of data centers, reflecting Oman’s commitment to thriving in the digital world.

Apart from delivering better connectivity, Omantel’s investment in new digital infrastructure contributes to Oman’s Vision 2040 goals, strengthening the country’s vision to drive digital transformation.
