GITEX GLOBAL, known as the world’s biggest technology and startup event, has officially commenced its 44th edition at the Dubai World Trade Centre, featuring the participation of 6,500 exhibitors, 1,800 startups, and 1,200 investors from over 180 countries, all of which aim to shape the future global technological landscape.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, toured the event’s official opening, which connects industry leaders, tech innovators, cybersecurity experts, and global governments.

Under the theme, “Global Collaboration to Forge a Future AI-Driven Economy,” the global technology event will cover five themes throughout its week-long duration, including the latest technology investment trends, AI use cases, innovative cybersecurity strategies, data center management and infrastructure, and groundbreaking future technologies such as quantum computing, advanced robotics, and space technology.

Commenting on the event, HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, stated, “As the UAE embarks on a new phase of economic growth, driven by strategic investments in future industries, the nation is rapidly consolidating its position as a global hub for advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence. We have a clear vision to advance the UAE’s leadership in the global digital and technology landscape, making it the world’s most future-ready nation.”

“The remarkable increase in international participation at GITEX GLOBAL is a testament to this vision. By fostering a culture of innovation and excellence, we are unlocking new opportunities for both established industry players and emerging entrepreneurs to grow and thrive. During the tour, the Dubai Ruler was accompanied by His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Office; His Excellency Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism; His Excellency Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of Dubai Digital Authority; and His Excellency Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai.

GITEX 2024: Driving Economic Growth

GITEX GLOBAL 2024 is set to accelerate the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda ‘D33’ and generate a AED 100 billion contribution to digital transformation by 2033.

His Highness highlighted GITEX GLOBAL 2024 as a key enabler in accelerating the growth and innovation established by the UAE’s initiatives, including the ‘Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence.’

His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE Minister of State for AI, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, also attended this year’s GITEX edition, addressing the session, ‘The UAE as the Sandbox for Pragmatic AI Regulation and Policy Development.’

Moreover, this international gathering of the most influential visionaries and innovators will explore AI-integrated innovations in various industries and will dissect the technological challenges exposing the digital landscape’s vulnerability.

Running from October 14th to 18th, this year’s edition has, thus far, seen a nearly 40% increase in global participation, establishing it as the largest drawer of international crowds in its history.
