For the ninth consecutive year, the UAE remains to be the global leader of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) penetration, boasting a 99.5% rating.

The data gathered by the FTTH Council Europe in September 2024 shows that 29 countries have achieved penetration rates higher than 50%, with the UAE maintaining its position. H.E Talal Belhoul Al Falasi, Chairman of the TDRA’s Board of Directors, commented, “Our ongoing investment in the telecom sector establishes the UAE as a global innovation hub.”

This 2025 ranking aligns with the national vision of enhancing citizens’ quality of life and enabling access to cutting-edge digital services.

H.E. Eng. Majed Sultan Al Mesmar, Director General of the TDRA, added, “This milestone is a testament to our commitment to promoting the digital infrastructure and offering the fastest and best connectivity services, all in line with the country’s vision toward digital transformation and tech leadership.”

The TDRA’s executive members have all commended the efforts of service providers who have contributed to achieving this feat since 2016. e& UAE launched improved FTTH plans that offer a significant leap forward in internet speed, providing consumers with an unparalleled fiber optic experience, while du is accelerating the rollout of fiber infrastructure, alongside already achieving 99% coverage of its 5G network and launching the 5G-Advanced villa in 2023.

Considering them as the cornerstone for sustaining UAE’s position as a world leader in FTTH network penetration, H.E. Eng. Mohammed Yousef Al Ramsi, Deputy Director General, Telecommunications sector, TDRA, expressed, “We will continue to work with them to ensure a more evolved and innovative future.”

The rise of FTTH has accelerated high-speed broadband adoption, delivering significant benefits to businesses and individuals. Beyond enhancing performance, fiber plays a key role in energy efficiency, sustainability, and the growth of hyperscalers, 5G-Advanced, data center connectivity, smart cities, and AI-driven innovations.
