2019 saw the introduction of WiFi 6 certified products, the deployment of shared spectrum, availability of 5G handsets and service in select cities in the region, and an uptick in interest for private networks. These new standards, products and services will give enterprises more choices in 2020 as to how they meet increased demands for both capacity and coverage, as well as meet increased end user expectations.

A new mobile application that allows users to share their contact information without having to exchange business cards was recently launched. HereYouGo is an ecofriendly renovated concept of the traditional business card - offered to users free of charge – that allows them to exchange contact details effortlessly in one simple step.

Two weeks out from one of the world’s largest tech shows, the GSMA has issued some sweeping safeguards over growing concerns around the coronavirus for its upcoming event, Mobile World Congress. After a number of high profile back-outs, including ZTE, LG, NVIDIA, Ericsson, and most recently Amazon, the company issued a new list, including a ban of visitors originating from the Hubei province, whose capital Wuhan is believed to be the origin of the epidemic.

The Réseaux IP Européens Network Coordination Centre (RIPE NCC) recently held a training program for Mobile Operators, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), and other stakeholders from public and private sectors in Lebanon. The attendees met at the Intercontinental Phoenicia hotel to spend three days together learning how to work with Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) and deploy it on their networks.
