Jordan has officially launched its satellite-based internet services, marking a pivotal moment in the country’s journey toward full digital transformation and expanded high-speed internet coverage, particularly in underserved and remote areas.
TRC Chairman, Bassam Al-Sarhan, hailed the launch "a significant milestone for the telecommunications sector," underscoring how the new service, powered by low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, introduces a cutting-edge solution for regions where traditional infrastructure has long been infeasible. Al-Sarhan noted:
“This service is not just a connectivity innovation but a strategic step toward improving economic opportunities, promoting digital equality, and enhancing the quality of services for all Jordanians.”
To ensure success, the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) collaborated closely with Starlink to adapt the service to Jordan’s unique geographic and socioeconomic landscape. Al-Sarhan reaffirmed that space internet will be held to the same rigorous standards as traditional fiber services, including consumer protection, quality assurance, and regulatory oversight.
The launch aligns with Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision, which identifies digital transformation as a key driver of sustainable economic development and global competitiveness.
Lauren Dreyer, Vice President of Business Operations at Starlink, emphasized, “This initiative is about opening new opportunities in sectors like education, healthcare, and business across every square kilometre of the country.”
She added that pricing details for both residential and business users will be published on the official Starlink website to ensure clarity and ease of access.

Positive Impacts
In November 2023, the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission granted Starlink Jordan a general telecommunications license, enabling the company to commence satellite internet services in the Kingdom.
The introduction of satellite-based internet is expected to have several positive impacts on Jordan:
- Enhanced Connectivity: Starlink's services aim to provide high-speed internet access across all regions of Jordan. This widespread coverage is anticipated to bridge the digital divide, ensuring equitable access to information and communication services.
- Economic Growth: Improved internet connectivity is likely to stimulate economic development by supporting entrepreneurship and attracting technology companies to operate locally. This influx of businesses can lead to job creation, enhance the competitiveness of the telecommunications sector, and foster overall economic growth.
- Improved Quality of Life: Access to reliable, high-speed internet can enhance citizens’ quality of life by providing better access to online education, e-commerce, and telemedicine services. It can also narrow the digital gap between urban and rural areas, creating equal access to information and opportunities.
