The maturity of 5G standards has finally brought 5G from vision to reality.

Many countries, such as Japan, South Korea, and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in the Middle East, have started building 5G platforms and will soon put 5G into commercial use. It is widely accepted in the industry that 2019 will mark the start of 5G commercialization.

Nokia is making 5G deployments faster and more cost-efficient with its patent-pending 5G virtual testing environment. In its over-the-air validation area in Oulu, Finland, Nokia works with operators to simulate massive MIMO antenna beamforming performance by combining physical testing with a leading edge virtual environment.

The fifth court hearing for Meng Wanzhou's case took place in Canada on May 8. Huawei issued a statement regarding this hearing in which it reveals three new and important disclosures that the lawyers for Ms. Meng made in court. From the outset, Huawei has expressed confidence in Ms. Meng’s innocence. “We have maintained that her U.S.-ordered arrest was an unlawful abuse of process – one guided by political considerations and tactics, not by the rule of law.”

After Nokia’s Q1 2019 results were made public, CEO Rajeev Suri conceded that “Q1 was a weak quarter for Nokia”. However, he continued, “We expected that it would be, and the outcome has not changed our perspective on the full year. We are confident that those issues that drove weakness in our results will ease over the remainder of the year. While overall risks have increased slightly, we continue to see positive developments and are maintaining our guidance for the full year.”

Smartphone industry has been evolving very fast with smartphone manufacturers constantly releasing new technologies and new specs. Customers now have a wide range of choices and a variety of phones to select from. After the enormous buzz that the P30 series and its out-of-this-world photography features made, we assumed that the Chinese giant would have taken a break, but…. Who are we kidding? We’ve barely just caught our breath and it looks like Huawei is yet again preparing us for a new smartphone.

Huawei has announced its business results for the first quarter of 2019. In Q1 of this year, Huawei generated CNY179.7 billion in revenue, an increase of 39% year-on-year. The company's net profit margin in Q1 2019 was about 8%, slightly higher than the same period last year.

At the Huawei Global Analyst Summit 2019, Huawei and Wi-Fi Alliance (WFA) held a media roundtable meeting with the theme of "Wi-Fi 6, Unlocking Business Value." At the media roundtable, Huawei announced AirEngine as its new Wi-Fi brand, which will be applied to its full series of enterprise-class Wi-Fi 6 products.
