Vodafone and Nos, Portuguese telecoms operators, have signed a network sharing pact which involves both passive infrastructure (poles and towers) and active mobile network elements (antennas, amplifies and radio equipment).

The arrange entails assets which are currently owned or to be owned by both Vodafone and Nos as well as pre-existing 2G, 3G and 4G technologies and infrastructure. According to the official statement, the addition of 5G will be “dependent on each operator’s independent decision as to whether or not to implement this technology”.

While agreement aims to cover the entire country, the level of sharing w3ill vary based on population density.

The official statement also noted that, “The agreements do not encompass spectrum sharing between the operators and each party will maintain exclusive strategic commercial independence and the ability to differentiate in terms of customer service and provision.”
