As part of its contribution to the first phase of the Decent Life project, Telecom Egypt is connecting fibre-optic networks to about 1,413 villages in 52 towns in 20 governorates to develop the information infrastructure and ensure the access of high-speed Internet services to the Egyptian countryside, including the access of the fiber-optic network for more than one million buildings, comprising more than 3 million housing units, according to state agency news report.
This is the largest project for the development of communications infrastructure at a cost of approximately EGP 6bn and to be completed as per the project’s time plan.
Adel Hamed, managing director and CEO of Telecom Egypt, paid a surprise visit to Gharbia governorate, to inspect the progress of the project to develop the infrastructure and connect fibre-optic networks to villages and rural areas, including the villages of Tafahna Al-Azab and Nahtay. During the visit, Hamed thanked all the workers participating in this great initiative, and their efforts around the clock to implement the development and modernization processes to the fullest and according to the specified schedule.
