NEC Corporation has announced the completion and operation of the Patara-2 submarine cable system in Indonesia. This cable system is owned by Telkom Indonesia, the largest digital telecommunications company in the country, which is dedicated to accelerating digitalization in Indonesia. The Patara-2 submarine cable system is a high-speed optical fiber cable that spans approximately 1,200 kilometers. It has a capacity of 100 gigabits per second and consists of 80 wavelengths and two fiber pairs.

NEC Corporation has completed a long-distance field trial of an optical submarine cable system using a new transponder with the highest level of transmission performance in the world, 800 gigabits per second (Gbps), according to NEC research.
