The United Arab Emirates and Kuwait strengthened their bilateral relations by signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and executive programs to support the collaborative efforts of both nations in various sectors, including telecommunications and technology.

During the fifth session of the UAE-Kuwait Joint Higher Committee, held in Abu Dhabi on September 2, the UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, chaired the committee, while Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Yahya, represented his country’s delegation.

MoU for Standardization

Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, the UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and the Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs signed an MoU between the two governments to enhance their cooperation in standardization activities. They also signed an additional MoU outlining their agreed dual collaboration in the telecommunications and information technology sectors to address the growing technological needs of both countries.

MoU for Digital Security

Additionally, Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, Head of the UAE Cybersecurity Council, and Major General Engineer Mohammed Abdulaziz Bouarki, Head of Kuwait’s National Cybersecurity Centre, signed an MoU focusing on enhancing digital security.

According to Bouarki, the cybersecurity MoU outlines 14 primary objectives, which includes enhancing intelligence information exchange to deliver early cyber-attack warnings. The initiative aims to establish cooperation across all cybersecurity aspects and elevate the defensive capabilities of both nations.

A Symbiotic Partnership

The UAE Deputy Prime Minister underscored the significance of the Joint Committee’s fifth session, reflecting on the deep fraternal ties between the UAE and Kuwait, established under the leadership and guidance of the UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the Emir of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Furthermore, five other MoUs and executive programs on various sectors were signed, highlighting the close partnership of the two nations and their mutual support for enhancing regional innovation, security, and stability in the Gulf region.
