Finnish multinational telecommunications giant, Nokia, recently launched new industrial devices to enhance worker safety, productivity, and situational awareness in the industrial environments of enterprises.
Nokia’s comprehensive industrial device portfolio, which includes new field routers and EX-protected device types and formfactors, enables enterprises to operate in unsafe or high-security environments, including mines, ports, chemical and oil and gas facilities.

By leveraging our latest applications, enterprises can implement Industry 4.0 use cases more effectively.
Moreover, Nokia’s unified platform, which includes edge computing, applications and business-critical connectivity, complements its current EX and high ingress protection (IP) devices, featuring handhelds, dongles, and field routers.

Latest Nokia Innovations for High-Risk Environments
Nokia also introduced new indoor and outdoor routers to enhance device capacity and bandwidth for data-intensive applications, linking machines, vehicles, and sensors.
The inbuilt Nokia MX Boost serves as the company’s standout feature. It optimizes performance and reliability by simultaneously leveraging 4.9G/LTE, 5G, and Wi-Fi 6 to meet the demands of high-capacity industry 4.0 use cases.
Furthermore, the telecom company emphasized the need for workers to be prepared with rigorously certified equipment, particularly in hazardous environments.
Through the Nokia One Platform for industrial digitalization, Nokia partnered with i.safe MOBILE to establish additional EX-protected devices, including 5G tablet and push-to-talk (PTT) handheld devices, all of which are designed for data communications in high-risk environments.
The 5G Android tablet seamlessly integrates 4.9G/LTE, 5G networks, and Wi-Fi 6, making it ideal for industrial applications. The tablet includes key features such as a replaceable battery and programmable buttons for custom applications.
In addition, the 5G PTT handheld device enables mission-critical PTT over cellular communication through both public and campus networks.

Nokia’s newly launched devices are supported by Nokia’s Industrial Device Management (IDM) and Nokia’s Network Digital Twin, enabling enterprises to seamlessly integrate devices while securing real-time network insights. These tools facilitate efficient maintenance prediction in terms of need and downtime reduction.
Litjens highlighted the company’s latest innovations, stating, “Nokia MX Boost, Network Digital Twin, Industrial Device Management, and other applications like Visual Position and Object Detection, as well as Team Comms, add value to our customers beyond connectivity and edge compute capabilities in Nokia One Platform for industrial digitalization.”
Currently, Nokia has deployed its services to more than 2,600 enterprise, mission-critical networks and has extended its expertise to more than 760 private wireless customers globally.
The integration of these innovative solutions makes it easier for customers to access the necessary equipment and applications for both current and future Industry 4.0 use cases.
