Qualcomm announces release of chipset specifically designed for 'connected cars'
US chip firm Qualcomm has announced that it has released a chipset which has been specifically designed based on 3GPP cellular standards for the 'connected cars'. In a statement issued to the press, Qualcomm introduced the 9150 Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) chipset which combines LTE network connectivity with direct communications in the internationally harmonized 5.9GHz band.
Qualcomm President Derek Aberle to step down
Qualcomm Incorporated announced on August 25 that Derek Aberle has decided to leave the company after a 17-year career during which he served as President of Qualcomm Incorporated and helped drive the company's overall global strategy and vision as a member of Qualcomm's Executive Committee. Germany's leading telecom provider Deutsche Telekom went live with a 5G connection on its commercial network in central Berlin on Sept. 1, at over 2Gbps and a low latency of 3 milliseconds over a 3.7 gigahertz spectrum link. Powered by Huawei user equipment using 3GPP specifications for 5G New Radio (NR), the deployment on commercial sites is the first in Europe.
