Nokia broke new grounds with Vodafone Turkey with a regional demonstration of a 1Tb/s (terabit per second) per channel coherent transmission over its live optical network with a capacity increase of 150% over a single channel coherent transmission, and the ability to scale network capacity up to 70Tb/s per fiber.

Egypt’s Aswan governorate will receive a number of projects, including the construction of 81 mobile towers to support the communications service, and the connection of fiber-optic cables to 110,000 homes, in addition to developing 44 post offices.

Sparkle and Trans Ocean Network, a Panamanian telecommunications company, have agreed to form a strategic joint venture in Panama for the construction of an open landing and connectivity center that would become the digital hub for all Central America, the Andean region, and the Caribbean.

As part of its contribution to the first phase of the Decent Life project, Telecom Egypt is connecting fibre-optic networks to about 1,413 villages in 52 towns in 20 governorates to develop the information infrastructure and ensure the access of high-speed Internet services to the Egyptian countryside, including the access of the fiber-optic network for more than one million buildings, comprising more than 3 million housing units, according to state agency news report.
